IS GOD JEALOUS OR LOVING?

Deuteronomy 4:24  For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. (KJV) I John 4:8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (KJV)

Usually, jealousy arises because of feelings of love.  If a man's wife was to become drawn to another man, he would become jealous because of his love for her.  Not a contradiction.
